Stevens County launches new smartphone app

STEVENS COUNTY, Wash. — If you live in Stevens County, you now have access to a new tool that can help keep you and your family safe.

Stevens County Emergency Management recently launched the ‘Stevens County Connect’ app.

The app can be downloaded on any iOS or Android smartphones or tables.

The app provides users with important weather updates from the National Weather Service, safety alerts from Stevens County officials and other important news and press release information.

“We’ve seen firsthand how critical it is to get timely, accurate information to our residents,” said Adenea Sellars, Director of Emergency Management. “This app is  direct response to that need.”

Sellars said the idea for the app was formed when community members expressed a need for more up-to-date information during fire season.

SCEM said that although the app is smartphone based, the information provided in the app will also be made accessible for those without a smartphone through community bulletin boards, printed materials and the county website.

The app was originally funded with $18,000 in opioid abatement funds. The app’s estimated annual cost is expected to be $7,900.

To use the app, go to your smartphone or tablet’s app store and search Stevens County Connect and download the app.
